G is for Greatness

*After a long fought battle, the Green Bay Packers took advantage of an early lead in the game, and managed to edge out the win in Superbowl XLV and bring the Lombardi trophy back to its rightful home. The final score of the game was 31-25..

Overall I thought this years football season was great, a lot of upsets & comebacks; definitely excited for next season.. And as for the Packers, I was not only glad to see a NFC team take the Superbowl back to back. But an underdog/wildcard team at that.

But I believe with all the hard work they put in, especially coming in as a wildcard, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, top-ranked Atlanta Falcons and their rivals the Chicago Bears, and overcoming the Steelers.. the win was well earned.

Superbowl XLV: Packers (Green Bay) vs. Steelers (Pittsburgh)

*This years' Superbowl XLV hosts the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, in the battle of the yellow pants!! Will the Lombardi trophy come back home to Green Bay, or will the Steelers add a 7th superbowl ring to their collection.

Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito

*Last night was the complete domination of Manny Pacquiao over the Antonio Margarito. Although Margarito was the bigger man, Pacquiao's big heart and determination was what brought the Tijuana Tornado down to his level how destroyed him the enitre night.

I respect Manny Pacquiao for letting Margarito finish the fight, knowing the knock was unecessary, and also Margarito for show tremendous heart and wanting to continue to fight, even when the odds where against him (the entire fight haha).

World Series 2010 - Game 1: Giants 11 vs Rangers 7

*WOW, all I can say is both teams came ready to play. Tonight, the San Francisco Giants hosted the first game of the World Series against the Texas Rangers, and although the Giants got off to a slow start, they still managed to come out on top with a score of 11 points.

The Rangers got off to an early lead scoring twice in the first two innings, but the Giants came back with two scores of their own in the third inning. Both teams remained scoreless in the fourth inning, but suddenly in the fifth inning with the help of ^Juan Uribe's three-run homerun^, the Giants bumped up their score to a commanding 8-2 lead by the end of the fifth inning.

The Rangers answered back with two scores of their own but then remained scorless in the seventh and eighth innings while San Francisco on the other hand scored yet another three runs in the eighth inning. Texas made a final attempt to score in the ninth scoring three runs of their own, but was not enough to continue and thus the Giants won with a final score of 11-7.

GIANTS lead the series 1 - 0.

Game 2 of the Series is tomorrow, and takes place again at AT&T Park (Giants HOME) at 7:57 PM EDT.

World Series 2010..

*Although this is probably not the most popular World Series ever, those who've actually payed any attention to these two teams would now that they are both TOUGH, and we are gearing up for a good one. Both the Giants and the Rangers arguably both have the best pitching staffs in both the National and American Leagues and also have formidable bullpens as well.

These teams in my opinion have more than proved themselves to get to this point. The Giants have not won a World Series since 1954, and the Rangers have never been in a World Series. Both were considered the underdogs coming into the playoffs but refused to let this determine their performance; the Giants knocked off both MY TEAM and the Phillies to become the NL champs, and the Rangers also had impressive wins over the Rays and last years World Series champs for their AL championship. This years series in no doubt Underdog vs Underdog and both have a lot on the line [Except for Bengie Molina haha].

First game of the Series is tomorrow and will take place at AT&T Park (Giants home). First pitch begins at 7:57 PM EDT.

UFC 121: Cain Velazquez Vs. Brock Lesner

After constantly having to prove himself, it is great to see Cain Velasquez finally getting what he desereves. HARD WORK PAYS OFF..

*Tonight was not only a BIG win for Cain Velasquez, but for an enitre race, Velasquez coming in as the underdog became the first Mexican (-American) Heavyweight champion of the UFC.

Imposing his will right from the beginning of the fight, Cain Velasquez had incredible accuracy. Landing nearly every one of his strikes on Brock Lesner.

Lesner struggled to fight back, seeking takedowns hoping to turn around the fight in his favor, but surely it was not enough. Velasquez was relentless with his attack and ultimately broke down Lesner and used great ground-and-pound, making his face into a bloody scene.

After continuously beating down Lesner, referee Herb Dean had no choice but to stop the fight at around a minute left in the first round and Brown Pride coming off with an impressive win over Brock Lesner and becoming the new Heavyweight champ of the UFC.
In other news, Matt Hamill defeated his former Ultimate Fighter coach Tito Ortiz via split decision. And speaking of Ultimate Fighter, Ultimate Fighter: Season 11 winner Court McGee obtained a win over Ryan Jensen through submission by an arm-triangle choke. And also Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights contender Brendan Schaub defeated Gabriel Gonzonga by unanimous decision.

Also edging out with a big win was Diego Sanchez (finally) with a unanimous decision over Paulo Thiago.

RESULTS: MAIN CARD

Heavyweight Championship bout: Brock Lesnar (c) vs Cain Velasquez WIN - TKO (Punches) at 4:12 of Round 1

Welterweight bout: Jake Shields WIN vs Martin Kampmann Shields - Split decision

Welterweight bout: Diego Sanchez WIN vs Paulo Thiago Sanchez - Unanimous decision

Light Heavyweight bout: Tito Ortiz vs Matt Hamill WIN - Unanimous decision

Heavyweight bout: Brendan Schaub WIN vs Gabriel Gonzaga - Unanimous decision

NCAA Football 2010-2011..

*NCAA Football started this week, and already some big season openers have gone down, including the impressive Arizona win over Toledo. Though it was clear who the obvious winner would be, the way Arizona played had many people stunned. Arizona has good offensive power, and are usually known for their great defense. But this years' defense on the other hand was thought of as the teams' weak-spot, having only 4 returning starters and 7 newcomers, which throughout the training camp was struggling during Offensive drills. But on Friday, this was not the case. The Wildcats' defense was a MAJOR deference, stopping nearly everything Toledo had to offer (Offensively). The game would've been a shutout, but U of A guard Conan Amituanai was called for holding in the end zone during the second quarter. Resulting in a safety, giving Toledo their only points in the game.
This is definitely was Arizona needed after their embarrasing 'shutout' loss to the Cornhuskers during last year's Holiday Bowl.

Next U of A Football game is at home Saturday, 9/11, against The Citadel of South Carolina.

*PROPS to Arizona State who also opened up a can of whoop-ass on Portland State, in a 54-9 WIN. And Northern Arizona on shutting out Western New Mexico 48-0.

UFC 118: BJ Penn Vs. Frankie Edgar 2 [RESULTS]

*WOW,, as you can see I cought the fight on my computer via online stream.. I Know I'm CHEAP lol. Well Frankie Edgar (White Trunks) proved himself yet again but re-defeating the future Hall of Famer BJ Penn (Black Trunks) with a great display of athleticism, showing no signs of ever slowing down throughout the fight. While Penn on the other hand, might have just showed us how he is just not the same GREAT explosive fighter that he once was. All in all I'd say it was a good fight, I have new respect for Frankie Edgar, but still I expected more diversity from BJ Penn, at least more kicks and take downs, but again just like most of his recent fights, he relied heavily on his hands, which I think Penn is still one of the best if not the best boxer in the UFC, but that might have been what had costed him the fight.
*RESULTS:
Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar [WIN] vs BJ Penn (via Decision)
Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture [WIN] vs James Toney (via Submission)
Middleweight bout: Demian Maia [WIN] vs Mario Miranda (via Decision)
Lightweight bout: Kenny Florian vs Gray Maynard [WIN] (via Decision)
Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz [WIN] vs Marcus Davis (via Submission)

MLB All-Star Game 2010: And the Streak ENDS.

-Today marks the first time the MLB National League has won an All-Star game since 1996 and 2002 when the game ended in a tie..DAMN. The Game ended 3-1 with NL as the Victor. This will result in a NL Team to host the World Series since 2003. Also David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox (AL) was crowned the winner of this years' 2010 State Farm Home Run Derby. Hitting 11 homers in the final round to outslug Hanley Ramirez to win.
*PROPS to David Ortiz, and Brian McCann (BRAVES!) on his bases-clearing double which put up NL to a 3-1 lead & winning the game.

*I Believe All-Star players do not necessarily make an All-Star Team,, BUT IT HELPS lol..I give them to the Finals, but a loss to the Lakers.

Futbol + Cocaine = Awesome.

-Well apparently at the Bogota airport (Columbia), a World Cup trophy replica made out of cocaine, was headed for Madrid, Spain. But was seized by Colombian anti-drugs police. The airports anti-drug chief Col. Jose Piedrahita Said on Saturday that laboratory tests confirmed the cup was made of 11 kilos (24 pounds) of cocaine mixed with acetone or gasoline to make it moldable..Damn, what isn't made out of cocaine over there.
